My Nose Diary

It has been my long-time gripe against both parents for not giving me the nose I so coveted.
Friends who have seen my bare face know that I’ve classic Asian nose(SIGH). That is, round nose tip, flat and broad bridge and nostril that kind of flares out. The fortunate Koreans have parents who gift them a perfect nose, chin or eyes upon their 18th birthdays. Whereas I’ve a  finely honed art of nose contouring with makeup.

Anyway, now that I’m of age, I decided to gift myself instead since there’s no remote chance of getting them from the parents. (don’t get me wrong. I love them to bits) With the decision made, I did my research online and settled on Dr Charlene Goh of SL Clinic.

Filled with trepidation and excitement, I arrived early for my appointment at SL Clinic. Dr Charlene Goh was thorough in her examination of my features after hearing what kind of to-die-for nose I’m after. So, it was not the higher the better. Hahaha. My nose flares out a little too much, which makes it look big in proportion to the rest of my face. I wanted more fillers injected so that my nose look more projected. The more the better right? Dr Charlene explained that with precision, a little filler at the right place will make a huge difference. The idea is to create a natural looking to-die-for nose. Right. I wouldn’t want to walk around flashing a nose that shouts “NOSE JOB”! Dr Charlene Goh also recommended Nose Threadlift together with fillers to give my nose bridge (which is also broad) better height and frontal projection. Several PDO threads are stacked up to give my nose better height too! Dr Charlene Goh explained that nose augmentation with filler is a relatively safe procedure as the clinic uses fillers that are Hyaluronic Acid that our body produces and will be absorbed by our system. PDO threads are similar to those used in some surgical procedures and will be absorbed by our body. Ok, now I feel so much more assured.

Before the procedure at SL Clinic, numbing cream was applied to my nose. It’s a strange sensation having a nose, knowing it’s there but you don’t quite feel that it’s yours. LOL. To make the whole session more comfortable local anesthetic was also being administered.

Time to bid farewell to my Asian nose.

(You can see my nose bridge is a little lacking isn't it)

Dr Charlene Goh was very precise with every injection, although I was eager for her to just fill the bridge as much as she could. Guess I wouldn't have made a very good aesthetic doctor. With every injection of fillers,  she would inspect my nose from every angle. She’s probably a perfectionist. But, hey! I’m not complaining. I’m getting my money worth. I’m finally looking 3 dimensional after 21 years! :P

That’s the fillers going in. It doesn’t hurt though I can feel the needle snaking in under my skin.

My eyes can’t see each other any more!

Dr Charlene Goh said that there’s slight bruising and swell from the procedure that will go away in a day or two. I didn’t have any bruising but mild soreness the next day.

Here's a video cause y'know videos can't lie ;) At first, I was a little hesitant in sharing this experience with you guys but I am extremely pleased with the results and glad I made the decision to do this. I really wanted to share with those who faced the same concerns as me and are too scared to go under the knife. Threadlift and fillers are a safe alternative but do make sure to go to a trustable and licensed Aesthetic clinic! For me, I have Dr Charlene Goh and SL Clinic to thank for the safe yet smooth procedure!
